Our client, a not for profit Canadian broadcast/media company engaged in providing education via television and the internet, is looking to add an Industrial & Employee Relations specialist to its team.
This is a 2 year contract ? with potential for extension, as well as possibility of permanent employment.

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources you will be a primary labour relations resource for the department on collective agreement administration, grievances, negotiations and employee relations issues. As a key interface with both union representatives, staff and management, your responsibilities will include:

?Evaluating and communicating risks and opportunities of various labour/employee relations approaches to ensure appropriate decisions are made
?Supporting the collective bargaining process
?Coaching management personnel in appropriate handling of labour and employee relations issues
?Representing management in the negotiation and settlement of grievances
?Promoting a positive work environment through coaching, counseling and the timely resolution of issues
?Taking a ?hands on? supportive role in labour/employee relations issue prevention or resolution

Requirements:

You are the ideal candidate if you:

?Have relevant experience in labour/employee relations and/or HR
?Have experience in the interpretation and administration of collective agreements, and handling of the grievance/arbitration process
?Have excellent analytical skills
?Are a team player, with superior interpersonal and communication skills
?Have demonstrated experience in facilitation, counseling and problem solving
?Are results oriented and able to manage and prioritize varying workloads and deadlines
?Communication skills in French, experience in broadcast/media or experience in the not-for profit sector are all assets
