Our client, a governmental agency, focusing on health related matters, is expanding. They are looking to add a Director, Procurement to their team.

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Services, in this role you will have responsibility for high-level, complex procurements including IT/IM, project based consulting services, and medical equipment. You will maintain strategic relationships with external vendors, as well as with business units across the organization.

Your role will involve:

•Defining and developing strategic direction and implementing best practices within the procurement team and throughout organization as a whole.
•Developing relationships with the business units and business partners to understand the needs of the business.
•Managing the procurement team and recruiting to fill newly identified roles.
•Serving as the subject matter expert for sourcing of products and services and providing procurement leadership by building a string working relationship with business and functional leaders.
•Ensuring compliance with organizational procurement policies and practices.
•Leading the effort to investigate and resolve supplier relationship problems as they arise.
•Developing and meeting milestones, quality monitoring and risk mitigation strategies.
•Developing and improving business processes and metrics.
•Identifying any operational efficiency initiatives to improve the procurement process and reduce inefficiencies that might exist.
•Identifying the opportunities and considerations to consolidate indirect spending, optimize supply arrangements and reduce the overall spend
•As part of the procurement team, assisting in the management of complex contractual negotiations and with financial management of contracts.


You are the ideal candidate if you:

•Have procurement experience with increasing responsibilities and accountabilities.
•Have strong negotiating skills.
•Have experience in sourcing major capital planning, medical and IT management consulting/systems solutions in a global market.
•Have strong leadership skills and presence.
•Are proactive and assertive; a self-starter; able to take initiative
•Easily develop credibility with peers, customers, vendors and senior management.
•Are detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
•Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Have a good understanding of information technology and consulting.
