Description:  
Our client, a reputable trust company/financial services institution is seeking an Experienced Law Clerk to provide professional legal support service to the legal staff on moderately complex matters.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, the successful candidate will research and analyze facts and law, draft routine documents, complied detailed reports, prepare drafts of correspondence for signature, and provides information and advice to internal clients and outside counsel.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Maintaining corporate governance files and minute books for multiple entities
- Preparing/Sending materials for Board of Directors’ meetings and Board Committees’ meetings
- Assisting with management of litigation matters
- Assisting with management of the Ombudsman’s Office and the Privacy Office
- Maintaining regulatory correspondence files – primarily OSFI and FCAC
- Providing legal support on Capital Markets transactions
- Preparing routine legal documents and correspondence for review by counsel
- Conducting legal research as directed
- Assisting in managing outside counsel tasks and costs
- Completing annual returns, licence renewals and other regulatory filings
- Acting as Business Continuity Plan team leader
- Assisting in managing and maintain key internal/external client relationships. Enhance client relationships by fielding incoming calls, making outbound calls, and coordinating and strategizing relationship needs with other team members

Your Accountabilities Include:
- Precision, attention to detail and ability to collect and organize information
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Associates and staff of regulators and outside law firms
- Managing workloads and forward planning
- Developing effective processes
- Recognizing legal issues and deviations from accepted practice
- Assist in project planning and project management as directed
- Exhibit desirable and appropriate professional behaviour including the RESCAP values, confidentiality, results oriented and ability to interact effectively with others

Requirements:

Required Skills:

- Law Clerk Diploma or Paralegal Certificate (Required)
- Post High School/Business School or equivalent work experience
- University Degree (Desired)
- 4+ Years of legal experience
Technical Abilities:
- Knowledge of mortgage and mortgage brokerage industries (an asset)
- Excellent knowledge of legal process, documentation
- Advanced knowledge MS Software (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Typing 50 wpm with accuracy
