This is a unique non-traditional opportunity for either a practising or former practicing lawyer who has coaching and or counselling experience and demonstrated knowledge and experience in traditional and alternative careers paths specific to legal professionals!

Description:

Our client, a leading business law firm, is seeking an Experienced Career Development Manager.

Working under the Director of the Chief Professional Resources Officer and the legal Professionals Committee, the Career Development Manager is responsible for supporting associate success and carer development at the firm, as well as counselling and coaching individual associates regarding career development and in some cases, other opportunities.

Responsibilities Include:

� Working closely with Firm management to identify career development needs and create and implement professional/career development plans.

� Counseling individual associates with respect to: internal and external (secondments; outplacement) career development; career opportunities both inside and outside the Firm; and integration and advancement plans.

� Developing materials, resources and tools to assist in identifying and pursuing career opportunities, including developing relationships and opportunities to facilitate career development and placement initiatives, providing guidance on resume writing, job search techniques, career-focussed networking, and leveraging skills to further career goals.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate MUST have:

� Coaching Certification or degree or qualification in counselling or related field.

� Successful 5 + Years experience in
o Counselling;
o Implementing Career Development Programs,
o Recruitment; Transition Employment, or;
o Related Experience.

� Demonstrated results in career counselling and coaching

� Experience in Outplacement Services strongly desired;

� Demonstrated expertise in traditional and alternative career paths for legal professionals;

� Experience in or in-depth knowledge and experience with professional services firms (law firm ideally) is strongly preferred;

� Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) including the ability to build rapport and address sensitive matters with empathy, diplomacy and tact;

� Professional demeanour, maturity, discretion and confidentiality;

� Demonstrated ability to excercise sound judgement and provide sound advice;

� Very strong relationship managment skills with all levels of organizations;

� Ability to multitask, prioritize and co-ordinate concurrent projects independently;

� Commitment to collaboration; comfortable taking initiative;

� Ability to develop actionable recommendations and implementation plans;

� Project management and organizational skills a must.
