Our client, a leader in the food production and processing industry, is expanding. They are looking to add an Immigration Counsel to their team.

Reporting jointly to the President, and Head of Legal Immigration, you will have responsibility for developing and managing recruitment strategies and activities for foreign worker programs as well as leading employee retention and settlement strategies.

The role will include:
• Maintaining a clear understanding of immigration and foreign worker programs and the related legislation, regulation and policy;
• Ensuring compliance with all immigration programs;
• Managing internal operating procedures and internal staff;
• Developing and managing recruitment strategies and activities;
• Working with immigration firms and agencies in Canada and abroad;
• Setting strategy and execution of that strategy;
• Setting Standard Operating Procedures
• Leading recruitment campaigns and processes;
• Overseeing all paperwork to ensure accuracy
• Leading retention and settlement strategies and assisting with ex-pat employees who work overseas.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws
• Drafting related agreements


You are the ideal candidate if you:

• Have an LL.B/ JD, and are a member in good standing of the Law Society of Manitoba
• Have 4+ years of relevant experience in immigration law
• Have experience and the ability to work with different cultures
• Have experience leading and managing staff
• Have excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence
• Are extremely well-organized with strong communication, and excellent interpersonal skills
• Are able to work in an environment with constant change
• Are self-motivated, resourceful, and innovative
• Experience in employment law not required but would be an asset
