Job Description:

As trusted advisors to First Nations, government and communities, the firm provides a unique experience to be on the forefront in ground-breaking matters pivotal to these indigenous communities and the Canadian Government.

Providing practical strategic, legal and policy advice, the firm works closely with first nations, government and communities on a variety of matters including:

• Aboriginal Rights and Title, Land
• Resource and Economic Development
• Treaty Negotiations
• Environmental and Regulatory Issues
• Specific Claims and;
• General Governance matters.

This role will have you involved in governance matters including the drafting and interpretation of policies and laws as well as community engagement. You will also work on specific claims alongside researchers, writing clauses and overseeing all aspects of the claims process up to negotiation.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will:
• Be a member in good standing of the Law Society of BC
• Have 3-5 years of prior experience working in Aboriginal Law
• A strong interest in and familiarity with Aboriginal Law, and Economic Development
• An entrepreneurial spirit
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
