Our client, a Medical Technology company, in the Golden Horseshoe is looking to add a Canadian Regional Counsel to its team. Reporting to the US based Chief Legal Counsel, the Canadian Regional Counsel will be responsible for a broad range of matters in the provision of legal support for the commercial activities of our client’s Canadian Business. The Regional Counsel will serve as the point person for all Canadian legal issues by providing legal advice in a highly regulated environment. As part of the global Legal and Compliance Department, the Regional Counsel shall engage, collaborate and communicate with colleagues and the Canada business to ensure that the company’s rights are protected and that the business is compliant with local, international and corporate requirements. Your responsibilities will include: • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on various types of Canadian based contracts, including but not limited to sales, services, Procurement other Commercial arrangements. • Providing effective legal services for the sales division, including advisory support for marketing, sales, and indirect channels. • Conducting legal analysis and providing counsel on laws, rules, regulations and policies related to the company’s interactions with Healthcare Providers. • Providing analysis and counsel on various other relevant legal issues as they arise, including but not limited to medical device regulation, intellectual property, employment, data privacy, competition law, anticorruption/anti-bribery laws, liability avoidance and sales and marketing related issues. • Managing litigation and legal claims involving the company’s Canadian business through interactions with the in-house legal team and outside counsel. • Developing strong working relationships with the business teams and well as others within the Legal and Compliance Department. • Partnering closely with Compliance on compliance initiatives, policies and programs and assisting the compliance team in managing a robust compliance program. • Training and educating stakeholders to ensure the proper functioning and transparency of the law and contractual processes. • Maintaining a working knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations. Including: company Corporate Policies and Procedures, industry trends and guidance on country, provincial or local laws. • Responding to alleged violation of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of conduct by recommending the initiation of appropriate procedures in partnership with the business. • Assisting on other matters as needed Requirements: You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:
