Our client, a highly respected, leading, Real Estate development company with a diversified portfolio (including commercial and residential real estate across varied asset classes), is looking to add a Senior In-House Legal to join their legal team.

Job Description:

Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 7+ years of Real Estate experience particularly on the development side.

As an integral member of the legal team, you will be advising and assisting with all matters related to the company’s real estate development projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing counsel on a variety of development matters including: servicing, rezoning, permitting and other matters related to the local government approval process.
• Preparing Real Estate Development Marketing Act disclosure statements and providing advice on marketing and project sales, Strata Property Act matters, subdivision and land title issues;
• Preparing and negotiating development related agreements such as easements, statutory rights of way and covenants;
• Preparing and negotiating license agreements, expropriation agreements and other development related agreements with all levels of government;
• Preparing consulting agreements with architects, engineers and other project consultants;
• Assisting the company’s construction team with various legal matters, including CCDC contracts and CCA contracts;
• Assisting General Counsel with other legal matters as needed, including leasing and acquisitions/dispositions.



• A J.D. or LL.B be admitted to practice in Canada
• A minimum of 7 years experience practising law in the area of real estate development in;
• Experience working on complex, mixed-use developments and master planned communities (in the City of Vancouver is an asset);
• Strong written, oral and communication skills;
• Highly organized, ability to follow up and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Proactive and ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team of real estate professionals;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercising strong organization, initiative and judgment.
