Our client, one of Canada’s pre-eminent wealth management firms, is expanding its wealth planning services and capabilities. They are looking to add a Vice-President, Wealth Management -Estate & Trusts Specialist to their team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the evolution of a growing line of business.

As Vice-President, Wealth Planning- Estate & Trust Specialist, you will be a key member of the Wealth Planning team focused on providing a holistic wealth management experience and deepening client relationships. You will be responsible for providing expertise to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth business owners, individuals and their families in the areas of tax, business succession, estates and trusts and philanthropy. You will contribute to the growth of the business through relationship building, opportunity spotting and business development.


The role will include:

• Leading discovery and fact-finding meetings to gather relevant information to provide expertise to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net worth business owners, individuals and their families in the areas of tax, business succession, estates and trusts and philanthropy
• Conducting estate, trust and philanthropy reviews and preparing memos and commentary
• Working collaboratively with the clients’ professional advisors (e.g., accountants, lawyers) and the Wealth Planning team, to identify priority issues, develop
potential strategies and assist with implementation, where possible
• Providing technical and product knowledge support and responding to ad hoc inquiries from the Wealth Planning and the Client Wealth Management teams
• Developing technical content for internal and client resources (e.g., articles and reference materials)
• Organizing and presenting educational wealth planning seminars/events internally and to existing and prospective clients
• Working collaboratively with Wealth Planning and other business units to develop and enhance wealth planning service offerings and related products
• Assisting with developing internal processes for the effective delivery of wealth planning services
• Promoting and supporting a work environment that inspires innovation, creativity, collaboration and diversity
• Developing relationships with centres of influence and clients’ advisors (e.g., lawyers, accountants, etc.)
• Highlighting success stories contributing to the team’s success and identifying and tracking all opportunities and activities accurately and in real time using Salesforce

Requirements:

You are the ideal candidate if you are/have:

• J.D./LL.B. degree
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in tax, estates, trusts and philanthropy planning (more experience welcomed!!)
• In-depth knowledge and technical proficiency related to wealth and estate planning strategies such as tax, business succession, insurance, family and charity law and business succession
• In-depth experience working closely with UHNW and HNW families and their advisors
• Superior verbal and written communication skills with an ability to simplify complex concepts and build a rapport and trust with clients and team members
• Expert interpersonal skills
• An analytical, detail-oriented team player experienced working collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to work under pressure, effectively multi-task and adhere to many concurrent deadlines
• Thrive in a commercial and entrepreneurial environment
• Ability to take ownership and work autonomously while exhibiting initiative
• Previous experience with client relationship management and pipeline tools (e.g. Salesforce) and wealth/financial planning software/tools
• Completion of Levels I, II and III of CPA In-Depth Tax Course or equivalent education (e.g., MTax), considered an asset
• TEP, CFP, FEA, CLU, considered an asset
