A truly excellent “Life After Law” opportunity for a Real Estate Lawyer to join the Vancouver office of a leading development company!

Job Description:

Our client, a renowned Real Estate development company with a diversified portfolio (including commercial and residential real estate across varied asset classes), is looking to add a Director, Leasing to join its Vancouver team.

Reporting into and as part of the executive team, the Director of Leasing will be a high level strategic thinker adept at thinking 'outside of the box'.

The successful candidate will be a lawyer with a minimum of 6+ Commercial Leasing experience. Overseeing the retail and office leasing for the organizations new and existing commercial spaces across Canada and in the US, with responsibility over 3 direct reports.

• Provide high level strategizing on the mix of tenants to curate the rent roll and plan on the best approach to get there
• Creatively strategize to maximize projected rents and projected numbers
• Work alongside brokers, to figure out listing arrangements in the leasing community so that the properties get the focus of the best tenants, and;
• Provide innovative solutions and strategies in filling highly sought after vacant spaces.
• Draft, negotiate and review of leasing and commercial documentation (to a lesser degree).


The successful candidate will have:
• A JD or LL.B. (Applicants with a University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration with Real Estate Specialization may be considered)
• A minimum of 6 years of real estate experience with extensive knowledge and proficiency in the areas of commercial leasing (office, residential), contracts and financial analysis.
• Be able to build collaborative relationships with internal teams from various backgrounds and across functional areas.
• Previous managerial/leadership experience.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate and present results to a senior audience.
• The ability to identify and analyze problems; take decisive actions and risks when need
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, exercising strong organization, initiative and judgment.
