Are you an independent, enthusiastic, and a driven professional searching for an exciting new opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career? Our client, a large Real Estate Brokerage firm is looking to add an experienced Corporate and Compliance Paralegal or Law Clerk to their team.
Located at their Head Office in Toronto, you will report directly to the Broker of Record, and VP, Finance & Administration.
Requirements:
Your Responsibilities will include:
• Regularly reviewing, tracking, and monitoring legislation that impacts the company’s services and/or processes and providing the leadership team with summaries of new legislation and regulations affecting the business.
• Collaborating with legal, real estate, insurance and finance teams to ensure proper reporting, compliance and files are up to date.
• Providing information and support to our branch offices with respect to Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) complaints, professional standards complaints, arbitration and professional standards hearings, and any other litigation matters as required.
• Completing and submitting RECO corporate filings and changes as well as with paperwork needed by other regulatory bodies such as FINTRAC, OREA, CREA.
• Drafting, filing and managing various business entity documents including, contracts for corporations, corporate resolutions, partnerships with Provincial and/or Federal agencies.
• Assisting in implementing changes to contracts to comply with legislation and regulations.
• Renewing and maintaining company licensing.
• Maintaining contract management order, including follow-up on contractual requirements and regulatory filings, articles of incorporation or dissolution, stock certificates and merger agreements
• Collaborating with external counsel where required.
You are the ideal candidate if you have:
• 7+ years as a Licensed Paralegal or Law Clerk
• Strong knowledge of corporate legal matters
• Experience working with real estate law and commercial agreements
• Knowledge of REBBA 2002 and FINTRAC compliance
• Proficiency using virtual data rooms to upload and organize documents
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Superb attention to detail, as well as organizational and multi-tasking skills
