Sr. Family Law Clerk

Overview

Our client, a well-established Family Law firm is looking to expand its Toronto office. They are looking for a Senior Family Law Clerk with 8+ years’ experience (more experience welcome!). This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Family Law Clerk to join a dynamic firm and further grow your practice in a professional, collegial and collaborative firm environment. This is a Hybrid position.
 
Responsibilities    
 
This role will include:
  • Demonstrating expertise in handling all aspects of case preparation, including client relations
  • Preparing and drafting affidavits, financial statements, correspondence, legal documents and other court documents;
  • Effectively coordinating with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
  • Scheduling meetings, court appearances, and managing calendars
  • Managing court filings and adhering to strict deadlines with precision.
  • Maintaining organized and well-documented files and records to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
 
Requirements    
 
You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:
  • University degree or equivalent education
  • At least 8+ years of relevant experience in family law
  • Understanding of family law procedures and processes, including the Family Law Rules, Practice Directions, Quicklaw, CanLII, DivorceMate
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Critical analysis and judgment skills to manage issues or unforeseen items
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Professional demeanor and client-focused attitude
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively within a team environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
  • Quick response time and ability to handle tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in scheduling meetings, court appearances, and managing calendars proactively and efficiently.
  • Experience with trials is preferred
