Director, Professional Development
Overview
This tier 1 law firm is looking for a Director of Professional Development for their Vancouver office.The director is integral to the office's operations overseeing the regional talent services for all legal professionals.
Responsibilities:
The Director will be responsible for the offices:
- Professional and Career Development Programs;
- Performance Management and;
- Talent Retention and Acquisition;
- Student and Associate Programs (hiring, mentoring, training, work allocation and performance reviews).
- Special Projects as they arise.
This is an exciting role for a former practicing lawyer with experience in the professional development space. It is a collaborative position working alongside the firm's key strategic business units, committee Chairs, Managing Partner and Human Resources.
Requirements:
The successful candidate must have:
- An LL.B. or J.D
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional development experience within a law firm setting.
- Strong decision making abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an effective communicator.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Aptitude for HR best practices and Employment law.
- Strong understanding of the Law Society of BC rules and regulations.
- Familiarity with law school recruitment cycles and procedures.
- Adept at relationship-building and marketing strategies.
- A team player with the ability to work independently.
