Criminal Defense Lawyers - Multiple Roles -Ontario -Hybrid
Overview
Our client, a unique and well-established firm with a long history of providing excellent criminal defense representation, is growing their team, and is looking to hire two Associate Criminal Defense Lawyers for their various Ontario offices. (Barrie and Toronto).
In this role, you will manage client criminal cases from intake through to trial.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Meeting with clients
- Providing legal counsel and guidance to clients
- Reviewing disclosure
- Attending daily court appearances (virtual and in-person) including: remands, scheduling pre-trials and judicial pre-trials
- Conducting legal research and preparing client defense strategies
- Drafting and preparing legal documents including pleading, motions etc.
- Doing pleas, bail hearings, trials
You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:
- A J.D, and Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario
- 1-5+ years (more experience welcome!) of experience in criminal law
- Strong advocacy and courtroom skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Superior written advocacy skills and a passion for litigation
- Ability to generate and secure new clients is an asset (Sr. Associate)
- Ability to mentor junior lawyers (Sr. Associate)
- Experience with impaired driving cases is an asset
