Law Clerk- In-House
Overview
Our client, a well-established investment services company specializing in innovative tax-saving solutions is looking to expand its Toronto office. They are looking for a Law Clerk–to provide support for Tax Litigation/ Investor Relations and Office Administration.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Law Clerk looking to move into an In-House environment to join a dynamic company and further develop your experience in a professional, collegial and collaborative environment.
This role is a unique combination of, litigation support, investor relations and office management.
Responsibilities
This role will include:
Investor Relations:
- Serving as the first point of contact for clients, handling inquiries and ensuring a warm and professional phone presence.
- Assisting in documentation for sales-related activities, subscription closings, and investor communications.
- Providing exceptional client service by empathizing with client concerns and maintaining a professional demeanor
- Populating and submitting CRA authorization forms, filing notices of objection, and handling refund requests.
- Tracking and managing documents related to CRA processes and tax-related administrative tasks
- Filing documents with the CRA and collecting notices of reassessment.
- Proofreading and ensure accuracy in legal and administrative documents.
- Maintaining organized and well-documented files and records to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Document management
Office Management:
- Maintaining office organization and liaising with building management on facility-related issues.
- Answering phones, distributing mail, and order office supplies.
- Coordinating IT support and ensure smooth office operations.
Requirements
You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:
- At least 3+ years of relevant experience (More experience welcomed!)
- Previous experience in a law firm is highly preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to empathize with clients and handle stressful situations professionally.
- Experience dealing with administrative bodies is an asset
- Comfortable managing CRA-related documentation and processes.
- Experience with tax litigation is an asset.
- Capable of working independently
- Exceptional proofreading and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Critical analysis and judgment skills to manage issues or unforeseen items
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Professional demeanor and client-focused attitude
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
- Proficiency in scheduling meetings, court appearances, and managing calendars proactively and efficiently.
- Experience with trials is preferred
