This reputable downtown Vancouver business law firm is seeking to add a Commercial Litigation Associate (with a minimum of 4 years of experience) to join their firm in a truly unique role offering the benefits of an in-house counsel role but within a law firm environment.
This is an exciting non-traditional opportunity for a knowledgeable litigator who enjoys interesting and complex work, working in a supportive and collaborative team-based environment, without having the pressure to business develop or market.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will focus exclusively on corporate/commercial litigation, and act as an internal advisor, providing guidance to the firm’s solicitors and clients. Working alongside the firm’s solicitors, the candidate will advise on various litigation matters - as they relate to the firm’s business law areas including real estate; leasing; corporate/commercial transactions; insolvency matters and employment-related disputes.
Responsibilities:
In this litigation advisory role, you will handle a range of contract and business disputes, including but not limited to:
- Collapsing deals
- Corporate, shareholder, and partnership disputes
- Real estate and commercial leasing issues
- Builders’ liens, foreclosures, and insolvency
- Employment-related disputes
The successful candidate will have:
- A JD/LLB and be a Member of Law Society of British Columbia in good standing
- 4+ years of commercial litigation experience;
- Court experience; Excellent drafting skills;
- Exceptional client service and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide practical business advice;
- Practical, business-oriented legal judgement
- Team oriented approach!
