Our client, a rapidly growing leader in the energy sector, is expanding. They are looking to add a Director, Procurement to their Calgary team.

Reporting to the VP, Operations, in this role you will have responsibility for providing oversight, direction and management of the procurement function within the organization. You will lead a new strategic procurement initiative within the organization, which will encompass the entire procurement process within the organization. Once implemented, you will be responsible for monitoring, measuring, continuously improving, directing and leading the procurement function.

Your role will involve:
• Leading the new strategic procurement initiative
• Maintaining and recommending changes to the governance framework affecting procurement of materials and services including related policies.
• Monitoring and analyzing trends in company spending and inventory control in order to make recommendations for the future, and to identify areas of possible savings.
• Developing, establishing, implementing and enforcing supplier guidelines, obligations and service level agreements to the organization.
• Implementing, managing and updating all purchasing policies and procedures for the procurement of materials and services for the business.
• Working collaboratively with internal customers to monitor targets and identify areas for improvement (e.g., reduce cost, reduce cycle time, simplify, optimize).
• Identifying and qualifying potential new vendors or suppliers in order to secure reliable sources of materials and products.
• Ensuring procurement plans, policies and procedures are consistent with the overall company goals and objectives.
• Managing the negotiating of pricing, contracts, terms and conditions of sale, and warranties of materials with key suppliers and vendors.
• Managing enterprise-wide procurement performance and reporting on the maturity of the procurement function, including policy compliance, achievement of cost avoidance, cost reduction, and service performance.
• Monitoring vendor/ service provider performance to ensure quality of service.
• Managing procurement staffing


You are the ideal candidate if you:

• Have 10 + years progressive management experience covering engineering, operations and maintenance functions.
• Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related fields.
• Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP).
• Have demonstrated leadership and problem solving abilities
• Have change management and process improvement experience
• Have influencing and consultation skills including experience working with other corporate functions such as internal audit, legal, finance.
• Have staff development and training experience.
• Have contract negotiation and supplier management experience
• Are knowledgeable about managing the strategic sourcing process including the RFx process.
