Our client, a leading business law firm, is seeking an Experienced Proposal Manger/Senior Proposal Writer to work with the Client and Business Development team, Senior Legal Professionals and various Subject Matter Experts to oversee the Proposal Development Process and Proposal Writing Function of this prestigious and forward thinking firm.

As the Senior Leading Proposal Writer and Manager, the successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the team; strategic opportunity review; develop winning themes and differentiators for proposals; and be responsible for the effectiveness and quality of proposals for all offices across Canada.

Responsibilities Include:

• Developing, implementing and continuously improving the proposal process from opportunity evaluation, strategy development, post-bid evaluation, best practices and firm-wide education.
• Managing the proposal team resources, workload and requests, to ensure that all proposals are delivered in a timely and effective manner.
• Assessing opportunities and making recommendations regarding the ‘go/no’ process.
• Project management of the Proposal development lifecycle including coordinating and guiding strategic proposal meetings/calls with key stakeholders to clarify an approach and gather sufficient internal information to customize proposals and presentations, prepare proposal work back schedules, and ensure sufficient timelines are in place and adhered to.
• Working with Client and Business Development Managers, Subject Matter Experts and directly with Legal Professionals to produce winning responses to RFPs, proposals and credentials presentations to support legal professionals in their business and client development initiatives.
• Providing guidance and counsel to the pursuit team on messaging, structure, content and ensuring that a thorough understanding of client’s needs and the broader business context is reflected in responses.
• Developing and implementing proposal standards and templates and maintaining an experience database of representative deals and cases; maintaining and developing tools that enable the proposal team to effectively and efficiently complete proposals.
• Monitoring trends, development and best practices in proposals and RFPs, including pricing strategies and alternative fee arrangements.
• Working closely with the Manager, Research & Competitive Intelligence to perform detailed analysis on opportunities presented for response.
• Assisting/Coaching pursuit teams in interview preparation.
• Conducting post competition debriefs.
• Proofreading all documents for clarity and accuracy.
• Ensuring all activities are tracked, measured and reported on.


You are the ideal candidate if you:

• Have a University/College Diploma (Marketing or Communications Preferred)
• Have 7-10 Years of Experience as a Professional Proposal Writer
• Have Proposal Writing, editing and formatting experience with professional services organizations (REQUIRED!!)
• Are confident and proactive; able to interact with ALL levels of management and legal professionals;
• Have strong client service orientation
• Are extremely well organized with superb attention to detail and excellent time management skills
• Are able to track and manage several proposals simultaneously;
• Are proficient in MS Office including: PowerPoint, MS Outlook and Excel;
• Have experience with: iManage, Sharepoint, inDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, HTML, CRM (InterAction) is an asset!
• Have demonstrated self-starter and highly motivated to handle a fast paced environment;
• Are willing to work evenings or on weekends to meet proposal deadlines.
