Our client is a start-up investment management company – with a principal who has over 25 years of investment experience in a variety of industries. He is looking for a lawyer to join the company to handle all legal matters as well as oversee various company business operations.

Reporting directly to, and working closely with the President, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of legal matters as they arise within this multi-level corporation’s diverse business holdings. These areas include manufacturing, construction, land development, import and export of goods, investments, loans.

The role will include:
- drafting, preparing and reviewing contracts and other legal documents, ie: share purchase agreements; acquisitions; letters of intent;
-attending client and investor meetings, and assisting in the deal brokering
-Analyzing, interpreting and advising on legal and non-legal business matters – to ensure compliance with all levels of law and all contractual relationships
-Managing any outside litigation counsel
-Developing and implementing corporate policies, procedures and methodologies


You are the ideal candidate if you:

• Have an LL.B/ JD, and are admitted to a Canadian Bar.
• Have 2+ years’ of related legal experience
• Are a quick learner
• Have a strong desire to move outside traditional practice into a dual legal and business role
• Have substantial experience drafting and negotiating various contracts
• Have experience in various areas of law including: corporate, finance, employment, litigation, real estate, securities
• Are a creative, out of the box thinker
• Have experience and a comfort level managing people
• Have a demonstrated ability to work with, and gain confidence of parties
• Have superior planning, prioritizing and time management skills
• Are able to travel
• Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
