Are you a Senior Litigator looking for a unique in-house opportunity drawing on your legal skills to manage the legal services and file handling of a team of lawyers?

Job Description:

Our client, a leading insurance organization, is seeking an experienced lawyer with a minimum of 4 years of Legal Practice experience (preferably in the insurance industry) to join their team.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for a team, and will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of legal services, the quality of legal file handling, and the legal stakeholder and litigated file handling strategies.

The ideal candidate’s combination of education and legal practice experience will be utilized as they support their team in the implementation of effective governance of external defence counsel and manage the legal research library and authority process.

Responsibilities Include:

The Successful Candidate will:

• Help develop and implement the division’s supplier and stakeholder strategies with respect to legal services,
• Ensure consistent stakeholder/supplier contracts
• Work with the team to develop and enhance key performance indicators and frameworks for monitoring performance and compliance
• Oversee a team of lawyers and manage the litigation process for the team



- MINIMUM of 4 Years Prior Litigation/Legal Practice Experience (in the insurance industry preferably)
LLB or J.D.
- A member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia
- Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills which will give candidates ability to understand, utilize and communicate very complicated, much diversified or highly technical legal concepts/ theories/practices;
- Knowledge of the law pertaining to motor vehicle and personal injury litigation;
- Knowledge of civil litigation procedures;
- Knowledge of Supreme Court Rules;
- Knowledge of the relevant acts and regulations related to insurance;
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in claims handling and settlement;
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant computers systems, technology, applications, and tools.
