Our client, a well established mid-sized law firm is looking to add a US/Canadian Immigration Lawyer to their growing team.

Reporting to the Director of Immigration, this is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated US/Canadian Immigration Lawyer to provide immigration legal advice and representation in a high-volume and varied immigration legal practice. The role includes all types of US and Canadian immigration, visa and citizenship applications, with a focus on economic class applications.


In this role you will be responsible for:

• Counseling clients, including advising as to the most appropriate category in which to apply.
• Representing clients in all types of US and Canadian visa, immigration, and citizenship applications.
• Preparing clients for any contacts with US, Canadian and Provincial officials.
• Analyzing legal issues to develop and implement legal and application strategy.
• Researching statutes and case law and describe results of legal research to clients in layperson’s terms.
• Preparing and supervising and monitoring progress of immigration, visa, and citizenship applications as well as drafting key documents.

• Assisting clients in sourcing documentation or information required for applications.
• Representing clients in legal proceedings including before the Immigration and Refugee Board or other decision-making bodies.
• Co-ordinating matters between US, Canadian and Provincial officials, third parties, applicants, their relatives, and employers.
• Supervising, train and mentor staff attorneys, paralegals, and interns/volunteers.


You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:

• 3+ years of relevant immigration practice experience.
• Member in good standing of a US and or Canadian Bar.
• Strong research and writing skills, and are adept at preparing written correspondence and motions.
• Able to work independently and are passionate about client service and are very hands-on with clients.
• Detail oriented and well organized.
• A strong work ethic fueled by a desire to excel and achieve.
• Able to multitask and effectively handle competing priorities.
• Litigation and/or corporate experience an asset.
